My tía Yuya is a very particular character, she will always make it known to whoever she meets that God is the most vital part of life. In every corner of her apartment, trinkets of the Virgin Mary and Jesus shower the walls and tables. Each time I am there, I inhale the nostalgia of growing up with her.

My great aunt gifted me her old camera that she had not touched in maybe 20 years and it was oozing battery acid. I used an expired roll for the first time to test it out.

Since I did not have high expectations for this roll, I took most pictures aimlessly. Unpredictably, this roll is my most treasured set of pictures I have gotten back since I started shooting film around a year ago. The sentimentality is very present in the colors. 2/21/22

The framing of this picture was unplanned but turned out to be perfect. I saw this older couple contemplate walking into Starbucks for a few seconds. When they began to step in, I took the picture and the younger couple on the left stepped into the right spot at the right time. It looks as if that will be them in the future.
